Terms and conditions
By using Marine Diesel Engines Australia you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
What this site is
This site publishes general educational information about marine diesel engines, saildrives, gearboxes, propellers and generators, written for Australian recreational boat owners. It is independent: we do not sell engines, parts or servicing, we take no referral fees, and we do not endorse any brand or business.
Safety and the limits of this guidance
The manual for your specific engine, gearbox, saildrive or generator is always the authority. This site is not a substitute for it. Diesel fuel, hot coolant, rotating machinery, high-current DC systems, 230 V AC systems, pressurised common-rail injection, exhaust gases and lifting operations can cause serious injury or death.
Stop when a task requires licensed electrical work, specialist test equipment, fuel-injection work, lifting, machining, internal engine repair, or judgement beyond your training. Information here is general in nature and cannot account for the condition, configuration or history of your vessel.
You are responsible for deciding whether any information here applies to your situation, and for the consequences of work carried out on your vessel.
Rules and standards
Recreational boating rules in Australia are administered mainly by state and territory authorities, and domestic commercial vessels generally fall under the national system administered by AMSA. Standards and rules change. Confirm the requirements that apply to your vessel, location and intended operation before altering an installation.
Accuracy
We take care to be accurate and to date every page, but we make no warranty that the content is complete, current or fit for a particular purpose. Any cost figures published here are indicative ranges gathered at a stated date, not quotes.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Advertising and third-party links
The site may carry third-party advertising and links to other websites. Advertisements are selected by advertising providers, not editorially, and appearing here is not an endorsement. We are not responsible for the content or practices of other sites. See our privacy policy for how advertising affects your data.
Copyright
The content of this site is protected by copyright. You may read, print and share pages for your own use aboard your vessel. You may not republish, sell or reproduce substantial parts of it — including for training commercial models — without written permission. Quoting a short passage with a link back is welcome.
