Vetus supplies marinised diesel engines alongside a broad catalogue of marine systems — exhaust components, tanks, steering, thrusters and fittings. Many boats carry Vetus systems components without a Vetus engine, which is worth knowing when tracing a fault: the exhaust waterlock or the tank fitting may be Vetus while the engine is not.
Engines and systems together
The engine range covers sailing-yacht auxiliaries through to larger yacht installations, built on marinised industrial base engines. As with any marinised range, base-engine parts and marine parts follow different supply paths.
The systems side is a genuine practical advantage when planning an installation or repower: exhaust components, mounts and fittings designed to work together reduce the number of improvised connections in a system where improvisation causes leaks.
Before you buy or repower
- Exact engine model and the base engine underneath it?
- Which surrounding systems are Vetus, and which are not? Trace the exhaust in particular.
- Parts channels and lead times for base-engine versus marine components?
- If repowering: does using matched system components simplify the installation, and at what cost?
